Calorie tracker for diabetes management

Carb counting is the foundation of insulin dosing for type 1 diabetes and a key tool for type 2 management. CalPilot's photo logging produces faster, often more accurate carb estimates than search-and-pick — especially for restaurant meals and complex dishes.

This isn't a medical device. Use alongside, not instead of, your healthcare team's guidance.

What gets in the way

  • ! Accurate carb counting is the difference between in-range and out-of-range readings
  • ! Restaurant meals are where carb estimates fail hardest
  • ! Glycemic load (not just carbs) shapes blood sugar response
  • ! Hidden carbs in sauces, dressings, and breading consistently surprise even experienced trackers

How CalPilot fits

Photo carb counting

Photo of your plate. AI estimates total carbs in 3 seconds — useful for pre-meal insulin dosing.

Glycemic load tracking

Foods tagged by GL. Daily and per-meal totals visible.

Insulin-on-board log

Log injections separately so you can correlate insulin timing with meal carbs.

A day in the life

Restaurant dinner. Photo of the plate while waiting for water. AI shows 65g carbs (chicken pad thai, rice noodles). Dose insulin pre-meal with a real number, not a guess.

FAQ

Is this a substitute for a CGM?
No. CGMs measure blood glucose directly. CalPilot estimates carb intake. Both are useful tools — neither replaces the other.
Does CalPilot integrate with Dexcom or Libre?
Apple Health and Google Fit integration brings CGM data into the same app. Direct Dexcom/Libre integration is on the 2026 roadmap.
