AskCalories estimates calories and macros from a meal photo or description. Estimates are not lab measurements and can be materially wrong, especially on mixed dishes, sauces, oils, or unclear portions. Review every result and edit portions, calories, and macros before saving. The longer guide is How accurate are AI calorie estimates?
Edit before you save. You can change the meal name, category, serving count, calories, protein, carbs, fat, and fiber. Treat the AI result as a starting draft for general awareness, not a final number.
No. AskCalories does not include barcode scanning. Log with a meal photo, type a description in chat, or use the microphone to dictate what you ate, then review the editable estimate.
Meal photos you submit in the app are uploaded for AI analysis and retained with the analysis and saved food entry. Microphone input is transcribed by the device speech-recognition service into text you can review and send as a chat message. AskCalories does not claim end-to-end encryption.
The app does not currently expose in-app export or account-deletion controls. Email privacy@nextdio.com to request access, correction, export, or deletion under applicable privacy law. We verify requests and explain any data retained for legal, security, or billing reasons.

Meal logging with photo, voice, and editable saves lives in the iOS and Android apps. The website offers food lookup, guides, and optional AI meal-description previews. Website AI previews do not create an app account or meal-log entry.
Photo analysis and voice transcription need a network connection. You can still browse website food pages and review already-saved history when online; AI estimates are not an offline measurement tool.
Yes. During onboarding you set daily calorie and macro targets from body details, activity level, and weight goal. The Today view compares logged calories and macros with those targets, and progress includes 7- and 30-day calorie and protein charts.
You can ask what you logged, what remains toward today's targets, or request a correction to a saved food entry. Assistant answers support general nutrition awareness and still require you to review edits before they stick.
No. AskCalories is for general fitness and nutrition awareness. Do not use AI-estimated nutrition for medication dosing, insulin decisions, or as a substitute for professional medical guidance.
The website Ask box answers food and nutrition lookup queries and can offer an AI estimate for mixed-meal descriptions. Those website previews are not saved to a meal log. The app is where you photo- or description-log meals, edit estimates, and track daily and recent progress against your targets.
